On February 20, 2021 United Airlines Flight 328 from Denver to Honolulu suffered a failure in its right-hand engine shortly after takeoff resulting in a debris field at least a mile wide.
The Boeing 777-200 is 26 years old and outfitted with Pratt & Whitney PW4000 turbofan engines.
In December, a Japan Air Lines 777-200 with the same type of Pratt & Whitney engines suffered a similar significant failure.
